Q) How do cast iron pipes differ from alternative
materials when it comes to combustibility?
A) Cast iron is non inflammable and will not emit toxic
fumes in the event of being enveloped in flames. Most
alternatives are flammable requiring use of high-cost
collars to prevent flames and toxic fumes rising between
floors.
Q) What is the life expectancy of cast iron
pipes.
A) It has a useful life expectancy proven over time.
Past known cases 100 years and more. Most alternatives
are prone to some form of strength degradation over
time.
Q) Is cast iron vandal proof.
A) The superior strength
of cast iron provides high resistance to accidental
damage and vandalism, e.g. in schools or car parks.
Without a doubt, cast iron is a stronger, more damage
resistant material than most alternatives.
Q) Are brackets required?
A) Yes, the standard 3m-lengths
require less support brackets as the many alternatives
are less rigid requiring up to three times as many brackets.
